BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has voiced his disappointment over the Chief Adviser‍‍`s recent address to the nation, calling the proposed election schedule unclear and lacking direction.

The speech, delivered on Tuesday, outlined a potential election period between December and next June, which Fakhrul criticized as not providing a specific timeline for resolving the current political crisis.

Speaking to journalists after paying tribute at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman on the occasion of Independence and National Day, Fakhrul said,

"The timeframe of holding elections between December and June is vague. It’s a very unclear statement. Six months have been given, but this is not a roadmap. We have continuously demanded a clear roadmap and early elections. Without this, the ongoing crises will not be resolved."

Expressing his dissatisfaction, Fakhrul added,

"I am extremely disappointed after listening to the Chief Adviser‍‍`s speech yesterday. He did not provide any roadmap for the election, which was expected. What made it even more disheartening is that he did not mention the name of the Proclaimer of Independence, the valiant freedom fighter, Bir Uttam, and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. This is a part of our history, and omitting it is unacceptable."

Fakhrul also took a dig at the ruling Awami League, accusing them of distorting history.

"The Awami League has already distorted history once, and we do not want to see it happen again. We believe that by acknowledging the truth and the people‍‍`s aspirations, the country can return to a democratic government as quickly as possible. Only then will all issues be resolved promptly."

Mirza Fakhrul made these remarks on Wednesday morning after offering prayers and laying a floral tribute at Ziaur Rahman’s grave, marking the nation’s celebration of Independence and National Day.

The BNP leader reiterated his party’s call for a transparent election roadmap to restore democratic governance in the country.
